ANNUAL CONVENTION & PROGRAMME 8 - 10TH OCTOBER 2010 Hosted by Tyne and Wear Branch PRESIDENT: Christine Morgan Dear Friend I am pleased to enclose details of the 2010 Annual Convention to be held in Durham City from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th October 2010. The theme this year will be the “Satin & Pearls Convention”. Our chosen charity is Grace House North East Children’s Hospice Appeal. We look forward to welcoming you all to the historic City of Durham, known as “The Land of the Prince Bishops”. The Convention is being held at the Radisson Hotel on the banks of the River Wear, a luxury 4 star hotel, with an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and spa. It is just minutes from Durham railway station which is on the main East Coast line and within easy reach of the A1(M). There is ample car parking on site (nominal charge payable). The hotel is within walking distance of the Town Hall and Market Square where there are many cafes, pubs and restaurants. There are a number of restaurants around Durham’s Market Square. In fact, you will pass a number of them on the walk to the Town Hall! If you would prefer to eat in the Radisson Hotel on the Friday evening, we have negotiated a 25% discount off your meal. This is applicable to food only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion that there may be in the restaurant at that time. N.B. You will need to pre-book a table and inform the hotel that you are a delegate at the conference. |

Sunday 10th October 9.00 a.m. | Joint Committee meeting in area adjacent to Foyer of hotel | 10.00 a.m. – 10.45 a.m. OR 11.00 a.m. – 11.45 a.m. | Walk from hotel for optional guided tour of Durham Castle. Please note that the Castle is virtually inaccessible to people in wheelchairs and that there are a number of stairs in the tour which will make the tour difficult for those with limited mobility. In addition, it is only possible to accommodate 40 people at a time so a further tour has been arranged at 11.00 a.m. Please indicate on the booking form which tour you would like to join. | | | Free time – the Castle is adjacent to Durham Cathedral where Sunday services will be held, should members wish to take part. Entry to the Cathedral is free but a donation is requested. |
